Friday, 20. April 2012 we had a call with Rolf back in Urdorf. He had read our story on the internet and he had been active already to get information from other Iveco owners about our problems. He confirmed that most propably we could operate without the electric fuelpump. Back home Rene had found from a datasheet in the internet, that the pump delivers only a pressure of something between 0.15 bar (at 100L/hr) and 0.57 bar (at 0L/hr). So the pressure delivered by this pump for the normal operation is neglectable. Philipp confirmed that the intention of this pump was only to improve the starting behaviour in cold weather. So it was decided to remove the pump completely and in addition to also disconnect the Eberspächer heater (we have a gas heater in addition). This done and a testride performed and all looked quite allright. So it was decided that we would try to travel to Kiev. Svetlana from Iveco in Kiev was informed that we would travel and that she should try to get the part (sent throu DHL by Philipp from Hendschiken) out of Customs so that it would be available on Monday morning.
The trip to Kiev was without any problems, Fidibus working normal. In Kiev we had thougth to try to sleep near the Olympic stadium as in the maps it looked to be located in a park. Reaching there we realised, that the park had gone and the stadium is now surrounded by newly constructed buildings and further construction works are ongoing. Therefore we decided to go for the guided parking where René and Brigit Weiss had stayed approx. a week before. Unfortunately this parking lot is located a bit outside of the center and exactly opposite to the Iveco office. Anyway, it was a good place to stay and we soon felt at home. A first walk around the area and we found some shops with all the needs, a metrostation within walking distance, plus a restaurant with WiFi. Fair weather. 181km, of which 29km testride.
