Tuesday,
6.11.2012 from Ganzi we had planned to travel southeast on S317 up to
Luhuo and then on S303 to Bamei. A few kilometers outside of Ganzi there
was a que of trucks waiting at a checkpoint. We inquired about the
reason and where told that the road was closed due to works until 6 in
the evening. So we discussed about the possibilities we had: A detour to
the north of 2 x 90 kilometers on bad roads, a detour to the south to
Xinlong and then a road not shown in any map to the east to Daoru, or
wait until 6 and do the 90 kilometers to Luhuo partly at night. Finally
we decided to go for the last version, hoping that the road would be
opened earlier than 6. In the meantime we did a stroll through the
village, visited a small temple, worked on the homepage, chatted to the
police officers to find out if there where any other possibilities to
pass, etc, etc. Finally we could start after 4 in the afternoon on the
bad road, crossed a pass and arrived at Luhuo after 7. Here we stayed at
the parking of a hotel. Good weather. 98 km.
Wednesday,
7.11.2012 we followed the planned route to Bamei and went on northeast
to Danba. A nice, tibetan-style landscape with rivers, mountains and
mainly agricultural land. On the way we saw some pilgrims which measured
the way to the temple with the length of their bodies. Up to a
mountainpass we followed the good road through an area that reminded us
of home because of the trees and small rivers. After crossing the pass
the road followed a river for about 70 kilometers. Good weather. 237 km.
